The texts word for the Divine Service for this Morning is: Our hope is Jesus Christ Romans 12: 12 Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer. Message Joy in hope, patience in tribulation, and persistence in prayer strengthen us and comfort us in view of the day of Christ. Summary 1) Jesus Christ is the foundation and object of our hope. We look forward to entering into eternal fellowship with Him. 2) While we wait for His return, let us prove our strong faith. 3) Persistence in prayer allows us to preserve a living faith and hope. Context In Romans 12 Paul talks about the life of a Christian, which is to be like a divine service. The Apostle expresses that the gifts of grace are like the members of a body, all of which function together. Following these thoughts, the Apostle provides instructions for the proper way of life in the congregation. Our Bible text is taken from this part of the chapter. And Afrikaans Text Word is: Ons hoop is Jesus Christus Romeine 12: 12 Verbly julle in die hoop; wees geduldig in die verdrukking; volhard in die gebed. Boodskap Blydskap in die hoop, geduld in die verdrukking, en volharding in gebed versterk en vertroos ons met die oog op die dag van Christus. Samevatting 1) Jesus Christus is die grondslag en doel van ons hoop. Ons sien daarna uit Om vir ewig samesyn met Hom Te hê. 2) Laat ons ons sterk geloof bewys terwyl ons wag op sy wederkoms. 3) Volharding in gebed stel ons in staat Om ’n lewende geloof en hoop Te behou. Agtergrond In Romeine 12 maak Paulus melding van die lewe van ’n Christen, wat soos ’n godsdiens Moet wees. Die Apostel noem dat die genadegawes soos liggaamsdele is wat alles saamwerk.
