239 years ago today, in preparation to fight for our nations independence, the Continental Congress ordered that two battalions of Marines be raised. The Marines were to be a force capable of fighting on shore and at sea. Since inception, Marines have been deployed globally in defense of this great nation and her allies. No matter our ethnic backgrounds or genetics, we Marines are family! We are connected by a choice to answer a different calling. A call to be part of something larger than ourselves. A call to serve in a service with a proud history of honor, discipline, loyalty, and courage. I am proud to be a Marine and to all Marines past and present...Happy Birthday and Semper Fi!!!!
