23rd March 2014. Mount Brandon. Meeting Point; Hanafins bar Annascaul at 10.00 Starting Point; A The Boher Pub. Starting Point B Ballybrack car park on the West of Brandon. Finishing Point; A walkers; The Boher Pub. Finishing Point B Ballybrack car park. Distance; A 11 miles, 16 km. B 6 miles, 10 km. Terrain; Open mountainside, mountain path. Grade; A Very Dificult, B Difficult. Time; A 6 hours 45 minutes. B 4 hours 30 minutes. Highest Point; All 3127 ft, 952 m. Leader; A John McCarthy. We leave Hanafins bar Annascaul and drive to Dingle. Then we travel Westwards to the Boher Pub which is after Ballinloghig. This is the starting point for the A walkers. The rest of us continue on to the Western starting point for Mount Brandon which is the fine car park at Ballybrack. The A walkers will ascend the grassy slope between Balinloghig and Ballybrack and perhaps catch up with the B walkers who are taking the normal Western route to the summit of Brandon. After resting on the top, the B walkers will return to Ballybrack but if the day is good the A walkers will continue Northwards to Peirsamore as far as the Col before Masatiompan and return along the Dingle Way. annascaulwalks.org
