#2432 Id been to BITs in my first year. During OASIS, these guys worked from 6PM-6AM. The culture during their fest made me realize on what all we were missing out on by being girls in DTU and what all the college was losing out on by the incapability of girls to participate in/before the fest beyond 9PM. Rock concert at 2AM. Western Dance Troupe performance slot at 4:30 AM. They had more events lined up for a day than we have in our entire fest. True we cant have that here as we dont provide accommodation to participating colleges. But preparation before the fest suffers. And greatly at that. Ask any student team. The Dance Troupe, Pratibimb or even the technical societies. All day/night practices are a must before the respective fests and our college rules make that quite a painstaking task which finally leads to the disparity in gender ratio in these teams. Dont argue that girls dont have it in them. I have personal accounts of girls being turned down as most of the work in these teams happens during the night and taking extra measures to incorporate a girl is just not worth the effort. If we do make it to a technical team(which is very rare), or heck even the task of a minor/major project, needs to be accommodated during the day when we have Campus Intern studies, CAT/GRE coaching and routinely whatever it is that third years are supposed to be doing, only because 9PM well thats your cue. Run along, back to your caged domicile. I am a girl and I believe I have the same potential as that of any other guy in my branch. So I ask you, why should I lose out on these opportunities? #FrustratedDTUGirlHosteler #NeedBasicSocietalChange
