25 years.... Today was the final day that this duty rig will be a part of my everyday wardrobe. I began my career in Law Enforcement at 17 when I joined My hometown police department as a dispatcher. I was no stranger to this profession because both my Mother, Gloria Ruth Harris Ramirez, and my Father, Rudy Ramirez, were called to this great service. I was commissioned as a Texas Peace Officer shortly after my 21st birthday, and being a Police Officer has been part of my identity ever since. I have seen things and experienced things over my career that no human should have to see, but some are called to do this job... And some are not. My Lord has kept me safe all these years, and I praise Him for that. There have been times that I have come close to losing my life, and have been there to save someone elses life, and for this I am blessed. I have served with many brave and honorable men and women through the years, and for this I am also grateful. The whistle in my hand belonged to my daddy, and for many years he carried and used it, he gave it to me when I became a police officer. This police whistle has been to every call, been on every high speed chase, been on every search warrant, to every wreck scene and every police officer funeral that I have attended. This one piece of equipment has been with me everyday of my career, and I will cherish it forever. I always knew there was a part of my Daddy and Momma with me every step I took. I now and forever will be a retired police, a title to which I am proud to have. I am truly thankful God allowed me to be a part of such an amazing profession and kept me safe all of these years. I am now entering into my second career with anticipation in what God has for me and my family. I am ready for whatever our future holds! To all of my fellow Warriors BE SAFE out there and I will always be available for backup.
