251 Heard Street, New Liskeard in June 1972, when my mom bought the old Bishop house as an estate sale. Built in 1905, the house originally faced east in the v of the property, but was moved from its foundation and turned to face north when it was placed on a basement. Under the linoleum in my sisters bedroom was a complete newspaper from 1942 reporting on WWII (which I still have) used as lining, 28 layers of wallpaper, and beautiful hardwood floors that had been covered for years. In the back yard I dug up arrowheads and an old ink well, and bits and pieces of chinaware. I recall as a youngster seeing a photo taken by what is now Heard and Pine Streets with large white teepees in a field - which would explain finding arrowheads. In the second photo, to the right you can see Grandma McNairs house surrounded by willow trees before it was torn down and replaced in the late 1970s.
