255 years ago, a man by the name of Robert Burns was born in Southern Ayrshire, Scotland. Widely regarded as Scotlands national poet, he was also a farmer and exciseman and by all accounts, a serial womanizer! His works are recognised and appreciated worldwide, and he is an important character in Scotlands rich history. One of our favourite poems he wrote is entitled The Authors Earnest Cry And Prayer, particularly the last passage: Scotland, my auld, respected mither! Tho whiles ye moistify your leather, Till, whare ye sit on craps o heather, Ye tine your dam; Freedom an whisky gang thegither! Take aff your dram! As is often done at Burns suppers, lets raise a dram and toast his Immortal Memory this evening. To read the full poem, fhead on over to the Robert Burns archive: robertburns.org/works/87.shtml
