2666 Clean-Up and Big Creek Scenic Area Hike: Saturday 27 December 2014. Meet at 9:00 am at L.S.H.T. PARKING LOT #13 - TARKINGTON: N30 29.574 W95 07.125 (FM 2666, 1.2 miles east of FM 2025). From Houston, go north on US 59, take the Coldspring exit, 2025 just past Cleveland, TX. Go northwest (left) to FM 2666 at the Texas Forest Service Work Center. Turn right/East and travel 1.2 miles to the trailhead on the left. The Lone Star Hiking Trail Club has adopted a two mile section of FM 2666 that intersects the Lone Star Hiking Trail at TH #13. Come help us clean up the roadsides!! Trash bags provided. Bring work gloves and wear your Hunter Orange or a safety vest. Following the clean-up we will hike to Big Creek Scenic Area and back. Hike Leader: Cathy Wear sturdy footwear and bring lunch, WATER, fanny or daypack, rain gear, insect repellent, and any other specialty items you may need during the hike.
