The main purpose of his avatara was to provide the correct meanings to our ancient Vedas and Itihasas. Sri Madhwacharya’s works are called Sarvamoola granthas. They include bhashyas (meanings) to all key 10 upanishads, bhashya to Brahma Sutra and several aligned works. He has also written two stotras, one being Narasimha Naka Sthuthi and the other being Dwadasa Stotra. One important work of his is Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya (MBTN). There are many incidents and happenings in Ramayana and Mahabharata which when looked at superficially give us incorrect interpretations. Especially in Mahabharata which has several intertwined stories and incidents it is easy for some body to interpret them wrongly. Today if you watch TV serials covering Mahabharata, they are quite dramatic and represent some of the main themes also wrongly. For example Bheemasena devaru who is a bhagavathothama (bhagavatha of a very high order) is portrayed as some body who keeps eating only and being dull. They even forget to portray the fact that it was Bheemasena who killed all the kauravas single handedly because it was the sankalpa of Sri Hari. Similarly some of the serials even show Sri Krishna shedding tears over the death of some key people which is totally against the basic principle of Hari Sarvothamathva. It is a mockery of the great Bhagavad Gita itself where Sri Krishna teaches many great principles for the confused soul. Even in some ancient written works of Mahabharata many incidents are portrayed wrongly. Learning wrong interpretations of such noble works like Mahabharata can lead our minds in the wrong path. MBTN exactly addresses these issues and provides the correct perspectives of Mahabharata and Ramayana. It will be great if we as Madhwas can learn Mahabharata and Ramayana the correct way so that we are not deluded. Dwadasa stotra is an excellent work of Sri Madhwacharya which describes Lord Sri Hari in very beautiful and captivating ways. It is typically recited during Naivedya time. It will be great if we as Madhwas can learn to recite (do parayana of) Dwadasa stotra with a good understanding of the underlying meanings.
