29 Nov 1729: Charles Thomson, Secretary of the Continental Congress, born, Gorteade, County Derry. His was one of just three names appearing on the Dunlap Broadsides, the first printed copies of the Declaration of Independence, along with Strabane, County Tyrone native John Dunlap (printer to the Continental Congress) and John Hancock.
