29 years ago 31 July 1985 I left The Royal Air Force after serving 24.25 Years. I joined 8 May 1961 as a Progress Clerk then Stats Clerk serving at Kirton Lindsay, HQBC High Wycombe, Cottesmore, 103 MU Akrotiri Cyprus. and North Coates. I then remustered in 1969 to RAF GD , DI at Swinderby and Halton x 2, once as Sergeant in 1970 until 1973 and back in 1978 as FS. I also served at The MCTC Colchester(Glasshouse) Cranwell, Binbrook, Stanmore Park as FS SWO, Then to Apprentice and Ceremonial Wing at RAF Halton as Wing FS and then to Bordon as SWO from where I retired in July 1985. Whilst I was at Bordon I was detached to the Falkland Islands in 1983 as SWO Stanley. During my service I was presented with my BEM in 1980 New Years Honours list. After my retirement I then went on to serve in HM Prison service until October 2006. During this time June 2005 I was invested by the Queen as a Member of The British Empire - MBE. Having both a Military division Honour and a Civil division Honour allows me to have both honours in my title Keith Laverack MBE BEM
