2nd International Conference of the Pakistan Prosthodontic Association (PPA) Peshawar: 27-30 September 2013 Theme: Integrating the Science & Humanity of Prosthodontics Invitation for Participation in the “National Essay-Cum-Oral Presentation Competition” Dear Colleagues & Students, To fulfill our promise of maximum active participation of young prosthodontists, trainees and BDS graduates and students, in this years’ PPA Conference in Peshawar, we have planned to include and hold “National Essay-Cum-Oral Presentation Competition Sessions” based on essays on given topics from all belonging to one of the several categories so as to select one best in each of the four categories. We encourage everyone to take active part in this unique competition to win cash prizes. The procedure to be followed for this is: 1. A prospective presenter in a given category may first submit a written essay on one or more topics, to the Chairman Scientific Committee of the 2nd International Conference of the PPA (Address / Contact details given below). 2. All the submitted essays in a category shall be initially evaluated by a panel of experts to select the three best essays in each of the four categories (Given below). 3. The corresponding authors of these best essays shall then be asked to present their topics/ essays as a “PowerPoint” oral presentation (20 minutes duration + 10 minutes for questions / answers) in the assigned scientific session of the PPA Second International Conference in Peshawar. 4. During the oral presentation, a final evaluation by the panel of experts shall be carried out. Thus one of the three oral presentations from each of the four categories shall be judged as the best and prize winning titles in the given category. 5. To qualify for participation in the competition, a prospective participant must have fulfilled / completed the following formalities: a. Certificate from principal / supervisor confirming the eligibility of the participant in a given category. For those contesting in the “Young Prosthodontists” category (see below), an attested photocopy of the PMDC registration certificate must be attached that should showthe postgraduate qualification of FCPS / MDS /MCPS/ MSc or equivalent earned during the period from 2008 to 2012as a proof of the length of 5-years or less experience as specialist. b. At the time of submission of the written essay on a chosen topic mentioned in the concerned category, the contesting participant must have registered as local delegate of the 2nd PPA International conference by having paid the relevant registration fee+ Essay Competition Processing Fee of Pak Rupees 500 for each topic (details of Conference Registration given in the registration From).The required Conference Registration Fee & Essay – cum-Oral PresentationCompetition fee must be paid in cash or through bank draft payable to Account No. 04040021604903 at Habib Bank Ltd, University Campus Branch Peshawar.Original Bank draft must be sent along with the Filled Registration Form and the other documents.to reach the PPA Conference Secretariat (Address given below), on or before 31th July 2013. c. Each participant must submit his / her essay with the understanding that he / she will give an oral presentation on the same chosen topic of the essay (s) in case selected for this purpose. d. Has submitted both the hard and soft copies of the essay on a topic or topics as given in his / her category. The format of the essay should be; double line spacing using 12 size New Times Roman Font and its length not exceeding 14 pages of A4 Size excluding illustrations and references. It should have the title, full details of the author including Mobile Phone Number and email address, a brief summary, introduction, body and conclusion with a list of References (Vancouver Style) as numbered in the order as cited in the text / body of the essay. It should have been prepared in a style fit for publication in a journal or PPA conference proceedings. e.
