3.00 Wetherby I couldnt believe At Fishers Cross was trading at 6/4 before his withdrawal from this. I thought he was more like a 4/11 shot but hes a non-runner so I think the one to be on is TRUSTAN TIMES 100/30. Theres no doubt Tidal Bay is the best horse in the race but hes as old as Gods Dog now. Hell be a teenager come January and therefore he just has to be taken on. TRUSTAN TTIMES likes the course will get the distance and he should have the class to take this. 3.20 Ascot This race has a lovely shape to it and providing all 16 runners stand their ground, it may be worth throwing a couple of each way darts at it. The one I like most is good old ROBERTO GOLDBECK 14/1. Ive actually backed him 3 times already for this race over the last 24 hours. He won this by 9 lengths last year off a similar mark. He has a stone extra to carry today but Nico De Boinville takes 5lbs off his back and I suspect hes been trained to the minute for this race. Barry Geraghty has chosen Triolo DAlene over ROBERTO GOLDBECK but I suspect thats more with a view to the future. Merry King is interesting as he looked a smart novice last year but the other one Ive had a few quid on is BUDDY BOLERO 9/1. Like Merry King he improved last year before bombing out at Cheltenham. If hes fit and well hes a big danger. David Pipe always has his horses in tip top form for this stage of the season and I think BUDDY BOLERO will be involved in the finish. 3.35 Wetherby, The Charlie Hall Chase At first glance this looks like a cake walk for Long Run 11/8 but this wont be his main target as he is surely being lined up to win his third King George in December. I can see him tiring late in this race and a young horse called HARRY TOPPER may just be the one to pick up the pieces. He looked an exciting chaser last season before losing his way slightly. This is by far the best race he has run in but I expect him to be fit and well and ready to do himself justice. Cape Tribulation loves it around here but he wont have the brilliant Denis OReagan on board today who rides him so well. Benefficient 9/1 is probably the most underrated horse in training as he keeps winning big races but never gets any credit. That said I dont think he quite gets 3m and I can see Harry Topper out staying him again. I will of course be getting stuck into The Breeders Cup tonight but Ill be getting drunk and making it up as I go. I do have a few fancies to throw into my extravagant multiple though: 2.45 Ascot SPECIALAGENT ALFIE 14/1 3.20 Ascot BUDDY BOLERO 9/1 7.05 Santa Anita ARTEMIS AGROTERA 9/2 9.05 Santa Anita RENEESGOTZIP 7/1 11.01 Santa Anita SECRET CIRCLE 8/1 An each way Canadian is the way to go here. Thats 26 bets. Hopefully they all win and I can retire a happy man! Godspeed
