3/11/11 A Day I will always remember. I was in Malaysia. I had just checked into my hotel, turned on CNN International, and saw one of the most terrifying sights. An earthquake had triggered a Tsunami that hit northern Japan, full force. The devastation was massive, and the loss of life, immeasurable. We were recalled, and headed up the next morning to assist with the recovery and clean-up. Though many may not recognize the significance of the event, I did. Japan was my home, and the Japanese people, though they were miles away from where I lived, were still my neighbors, and I felt their pain. Tomodachi Sakusen, English translation, Operation Friendship, wall always stay in my mind as evidence of a kinship between two great societies. Though our cultures may differ greatly, through mutual respect, trust and love for each other, we can overcome the most tragic of events. 平和はあなたとある。あなただけではありません。
