3:20 AM (Local Time) Ending With A Bang! Over the past week relationships were formed, bonds were created, and today came a day where those bonds would indeed be tested. Everyone, dressed the best they could, gathered in the Mansion to celebrate an end of a 10 day journey that turned strangers into a family. As they entered through the doors of the banquet hall, I could hear the oohs and aahs. Indeed there was much to be amazed by, the fine dining experience, the dimmed lights, and elegant decor that put everyone in the mood to socialize and feast. The night was filled with moments of laughter, as boona took the stage, he turned a happy crowd into a robostously joyous one. From the opening of a recitation from one of our youngest students, to a story of my difficult past narrated by boona that I had once forgotten ( which definitely caught me by surprise). Boona delivered a thunderous spoken word poetry performance, followed by the beautiful nasheeds of Sh Mohammed Ibn Faqih. The night was truly memorable. Then came the hugs and the goodbyes. I know this maybe difficult to understand, but I remember each brother that I hugged tonight and I dont think there is even one of them that I would forget. Alhumdulillah for this moment. These halls now lay empty. Where once long flowing beards walked busily (sometimes obliviously) down through these halls, as the colorfull hijabs chit chattered (with a hop in their step) their way into class, now occupied by silence. So I too will say good night to this passing night, even though the mind is uneasy to rest, knowing tomorrow will be another normal day. InshAllah I will write again in the morning.
