3-3-2014 First off, I need to put into writing my feelings about Captain Don Coder, who has worked for me out of Jamestown Marina for the past ~4 years. Don responded to a little blurb I put on this site when I was looking for help about 5 years ago. He is a retired dentist that has boated on Lake Cumberland many, many years and has a houseboat at Jamestown. While Don did not fit my expectation of what a typical captain was in my head, we went forward with getting him a captains license. I worked with him for a few months and found him to be a good fit for the job at hand. As time went on, I found that Don was actually one of the best hiring decisions I have EVER made in all the businesses I have managed. He was always professional, courteous, caring and took excellent care of my equipment. As you may have guessed, he is retiring this season and will not be running my Jamestown boat any more. He will be sorely missed by me and others, I am sure. I want to thank him again from the bottom of my heart for all his help and friendship over the past few years. I will probably still drag him with me now and then when I need a friend to tag along. That means there is a new face coming to the MARINE ASSIST group this season. Captain Danny Woods will be joining the crew this season and will be working with me out of Jamestown. Captain Danny comes to the table with a USCG Near Coastal Masters License with a Commercial Assistance endorsement. He has been a visitor to the lake for many years and now lives in Harbor Springs part time. You will probably see us together on the boat for the beginning of the season, while I show him how I expect things to be done. If you see him, go ahead and say hello. I will try to keep him supplied with can coolers and such to give out. If you see him out in the harbor or at a launch ramp and want to buy a MARINE ASSIST membership in person, he can sell you one, and I am sure it would make him happy to do so. Captain Walt will still be operating the Lees Ford MARINE ASSIST boat. Many of you have gotten to know him over the past 3 seasons. I will probably have him expand his visibility a little this year, assuming the old party cove up by Woodson Bend may come back to life some. Captain Dale is still the man when it comes to MARINE ASSIST at Conley Bottom, however, he is still dealing with a bad shoulder replacement. I dont expect to have him back in place until late summer, after he recovers from the new repair. If you need service in the Conley area, we will run from either Jamestown or Lees Ford to help you until he is released for duty again, so plan on a little longer wait time, due to the distance we may have to cover. Lots of time it is not bad at all, because I keep Captain Walt down near the main lake at Fishing Creek to begin with. I am keeping prices the same this year. A single boat membership is still $95 for the year and a membership for up to 4 boats is still $145. Non-member towing rates are still $175 per hour during daylight hours and $200 per hour at night or during poor conditions. Purchasing a membership in advance covers a member for breakdowns on the water and provides free towing back to place of launch, jumpstarts of delivery of fuel ( you pay for the fuel you need). My main website anymore is dchmarine. This site will show you ALL the services we offer and you can link over to MARINE ASSIST from there. If you have moved or changed boats, PLEASE make sure I have your current information in my system. I am trying to get my website up to a point to where when you purchase a membership, you can set it up to automatically renew each year. I hope to have it working here in a week or two. Until then, we mail out renewals prior to your expiration date. Thank you all again for all of your support. I am looking forward to another GREAT season on Lake Cumberland! Hope you are too. Don
