3 Chaderghat cops among five injured in attack by mentally unsound man - The Times of India HYDERABAD: Five persons, including three policemen of the Chaderghat police station, suffered knife injuries when a mentally unsound person attacked them on Tuesday night. Police overpowered Isamiya, a hamali from Shankar Nagar in Chaderghat. On Tuesday night without any provocation, Isamiya began abusing Shiva and Babu, who were returning from a birthday party. When Shiva and Babu confronted Isamiya, he attacked them with a knife. They suffered injuries and locals alerted Chaderghat police. A Chaderghat police team led by SI K Mahesh reached the spot and, after finding out from the victims what had happened, they went to Isamiyas house and picked him up. While he was being brought out of the house, he attacked the SI and two of his team members, Peraiah, a constable, and Samata Naik, a home guard, with the knife. They suffered stab injuries on their hands. The cops managed to pin him down and arrested him. Based on the complaints lodged by Shiva and the SI, two separate cases under section 307 (An attempt to murder) of the IPC have been booked against Isamiya. He was produced in court on Wednesday and remanded in judicial custody. Police said that Isamiya has been suffering from mental illness and, for past eight years, has been consulting the doctors at the Institute of Mental Health, Erragadda.
