3 Israeli soldiers injured in hit-and-run south of Bethlehem . (Maan) -- Three Israeli soldiers were injured in a hit-and-run accident on Wednesday night near the al-Arrub refugee camp on the main Bethlehem-Hebron road. A Maan reporter in the camp said that a car plowed into three soldiers standing on the road, injuring one seriously and the other two moderately. The Israeli military said that the incident was a suspected attempt to run them over, suggesting that the incident was deliberate, and added that soldiers were searching the region to locate the vehicle and its driver. The wounded soldiers had been evacuated to a hospital, the military said in a statement. . The incident comes only hours after a Palestinian driver in Jerusalem hit a crowd of pedestrians at a light rail stop with his vehicle, killing a policeman and injuring more than a dozen. It was the second such vehicle attack in recent weeks, amid rising anger among Jerusalem Palestinians over widespread discrimination at the hands of Israeli authorities. Israeli officials have condemned the attacks and accused Palestinians leaders of inciting hatred against Israel, but Palestinian officials have blamed the continuing Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem, increased settlement construction exclusively for Jews in the city, and a summer Israeli offensive on Gaza that left nearly 2,200 for provoking anger. The West Bank has also been occupied by the Israeli military since 1967, and if the incident was indeed a deliberate attack as the army has suggested, it could suggest that increasing numbers of Palestinians are taking matters into their own hands.
