3 dangerous Egyptian phenomena: From the daily messages I get from Egypt, I can spot clearly three dangerous trends that are spreading like wild fire among the Egyptian youth. Something has to be done about these. (1) Violent Ideologies: A large group of the smartest young men and women of Egypt –especially from the Islamic groups and especially from the Muslim Brotherhood- decided to denounce democracy and disbelieve in the concept of peaceful change. They are seriously changing their ways into Al-Qaeda ways of doing things. (2) Brain Drain: Some of the brightest and most educated young Egyptian youth are asking me to help them to migrate from Egypt to anywhere in the world. “I wanna get out of this country at any cost” is becoming a repeated message in my daily inbox. (3) Accusation of Apostasy: Everybody in every political wing is calling everybody else “apostates” and simply calling for their immediate “execution” regardless of the law and its rule or procedures, based on being “spies and agents” for America and/or Israel – all of them! The problem is becoming critical because all of these voices are somehow supported by “Islamic” opinions that justify these “verdicts”. To me, these three phenomena are the result of the utter failure of all sides in the Egyptian political equation –including Islamists- to deal wisely with what’s happening, and the result of the massive murder and violence that was done in the past few weeks under the protection of the Egyptian government and in the name of creating a “civil state”!!
