3 day Unicorn Tour Isle of Skye, Loch Ness & the Highlands Day 1: • Pick up from your home in the Stirling area • Scenic drive through the Trossachs and Loch Lomond national park (various beautiful alternative route options, exact route and stops could be determined later subject to group’s preferences and weather conditions on the day) – Rannoch Moor – Glencoe photo stop • Fort William lunch – (15 minute stop, short walk up to viewpoint above all of the Fort William area, Ben Nevis, Glen Nevis, Loch Eil, Inverlochy Castle, River Lochy and the start of the “Harry Potter” West Highland steam train line) – (possible drive into Glen Nevis with amazing 1 hour walk at the end of the valley with high cliff faces, waterfalls, stunning scenery). • Option A to the isle of Skye via the Skye bridge (at no extra cost) We travel through the Great Glen with option to stop at the Spean Bridge woolen mill, the Commando Memorial and then look down into Glen and Loch Garry for a picture postcard view of the outline of Scotland’s map. • Drive through the spectacular route via the Five Sisters of Kintail to Eilan Donan Castle • Option of Skye bridge and Plockton detour (Overnight in an available hostel in the Isle of Skye/Kyle of Lochalsh area) • (please note if you are happy to share the extra cost for the ferry in the group, it is possible to take the ferry to the isle of Skye route B via Glenfinnan (stop at the Bonnie Prince Charles’ statue overlooking Loch Shiel and the West Higland/Harry Potter steam train viaduct plus viewpoint and nature walk) to the golden sand stunning and very beautiful beaches between Arisaig and Morar overlooking the small isles of Eigg, Canna, Muck, Rhum and Skye. Day 2: • Our day on Skye will always include Kyleakin, Sligachan and a short walk with a beautiful view of Portree Harbour. • Additionally we will visit at least 1 or 2 of these various regions: • On an absolute beautiful clear day, we can suggest the route to Elgol for an “out of this world/Lord of the Rings “movie”type setting” where we see all the small isles Canna, Rum, Eigg and Muck on the one side and get the very best view of the mighty Cuillin mountain. • The Trotternish peninsula to see the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock waterfall and some more stunning great views of the Far North West of Scotland and on to Uig either via the shorter interior route to Uig or via the scenic northern coastline . • Spectacular Dunvegan Castle, home of the Clan chiefs of the MacLeods with the option of some coastal walks or seal tours and via the Western bays and inlets back to Portree (with a possible visit of Talisker whisky distillery) or if you are very much into walking heading towards the Cuillins. Day 3: • Leave Skye across the spectacular Isle of Skye bridge • Possible Loch Carron/Plockton, Eilean Donan Castle visit • Drive via the stunning Five Sisters of Kintail into the Great Glen to the shores of Loch Ness. • Depending on the group, the time and weather there are various route options via Loch Ness: • (a / shorter Loch Ness option) at Invermorriston you can have a great walk along the river rapids down to Loch Ness before we head along the Southern Shores of Loch Ness to Fort Augustus for some more Nessie sightseeing, including the famous staircases and locks of Caledonian Canal. • We are heading south through the Great Glen either retracing our steps via Fort William/Glencoe (in which case we will vary this route as much as possible) or alternatively via Spean Bridge and Highland Perthshire, House/Falls of Bruar, Blair Athol castle/distillery, Dunkeld/Birnam/the Hermitage along the A9 and possible scenic side routes back home • (b / longer Loch Ness option) at Invermorriston you can have a great walk along the river rapids down to Loch Ness before we head north along the shores of Loch Ness for a photostop of Urquhart castle before some monster spotting at Drumnadrochit, we are heading north towards Inverness from where we have various routes that could include Culloden Moor/beach/dolphin viewing and various mountain routes back south, including • (c / Loch Ness max. option) at Invermorriston you can have a great walk along the river rapids down to Loch Ness before we head north along the shores of Loch Ness for a photostop of Urquhart castle before some monster spotting at Drumnadrochit, we are heading north towards Inverness driving south along the eastern shores of Loch Ness before we head back down south along a scenic route Subject to the groups’ wishes, preferences and the weather there is a degree of flexibility on day 3 and we can discuss finer points of the route every morning before we set off and as we go along, so as to always offer you the best. * Please note optional whisky distillery visit subject to route choice on any of these days
