3 fire fighting engines worth just over 50 million pula were this morning handed over to Kgatleng District Council. Kgatleng District Council Chairman, Tona Mooketsi said since the construction of the Fire Station was completed, the council has been battling to equip it. He said for many years they have been relying on fire engines from Gaborone to assist during fire outbreaks. However, Mooketsi said the council has a serious shortage of fire fighting staff adding that they will be compelled to freeze some positions to hire the requisite skilled labour.
