3 pilgrims among 7 killed in Pahalgam, Nagrota ........... Pahalgam, Jun 14: Seven persons were killed and eleven others injured in two different road accidents in Anantnag and Jammu districts of the State. A senior police official told Global News Service that four persons were killed and one injured when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a river at Pahalgam, Anantnag in South Kashmir on Thursday night. He said that a vehicle Taveera bearing registration number JK03C-5947 met with the accident at around 11:45 pm late last night near Nunwan in Phalgam when it plunged into river Lidder leading to death of four persons due to drowning. “One person identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan, a resident of Puchal had a miraculous escape as he had a way out of the water,” he said. The four deceased have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Ahad of Lajurah Pulwama , Lateef Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Akbar Bhat, Umar Ahangar S/o Ghulam Qadir Ahangar and Danish Bhat son of Mohd Ayub Bhat all residents of Puchhal, Pulwama. Their bodies have been were recovered from Nallah Lidder near Langanbal and Yanner Pahalgam, Anantnag. However, one passenger Ajaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Puchal Pulwama was rescued and was admitted in Pahalgam Hospital. A case has been registered in this regard, the official said. In another incident, three Vaishnodevi pilgrims were killed and ten others injured when their vehicle (Tempo) bearing registration no. HR66A-2318 which was carrying pilgrims to Vaishnodevi Cave shrine collided with an oil Tanker bearing registration no. JK028E-2164 coming from Srinagar near TCP Nagrota in Jammu district, a police official told GNS. He identified the deceased pilgrims as Sapna Mandal son of Anand Mandal, Surinder son of Bhuta Ram and Deena Gupta son of Bika Gupta, all residents of Albar, Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep shock and grief over the tragic road accident. While expressing deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives the party president Mehbooba Mufti and MLA Pulwama Mohammad Khalil Bandh have conveyed their deep condolences to the bereaved families. The leaders also prayed for speedy recovery of the injured one and eternal peace for the departed souls.
