3 weeks ago I needed a repeat prescription for pain killers phoned surgery in the morning and collected the prescription in the afternoon, excellent! As there is no hospital appointment appearing on the horizon I need some more pain killers from the surgery, phoned this morning, I have to put my request in writing take it to the surgery go home and wait 48 hours for the prescription to be ready!!! Sooo, by tomorrow night if the pain is unbearable I will have to go to A&E..........which should be totally unnecessary ...taking up time and space which is needed for what it says above the door Accidents and Emergencies!! Can anyone explain to me why A) I have to go to the surgery to hand in a note with my request for a repeat prescription? And B) it should take 48 hours to press a button on a computer, read recent medical notes, see that the medication is correct and push a button to print the prescription?? Although I am grateful that at the moment we do have a 24hour A&E at Withybush or I could be driving dangerously to Carmarthen and end up really in need of A&E!
