3 years ago I went to Ash Wednesday service at the Catholic Church and met the nuns that live next door to us (the name of the first nun I met sounds like next to, which we discovered was where she lived in proximity to us). That chance meeting - the only day Ive ever gone to Mass there, was 2 days before the earthquake and also is the reason I teach at the Catholic School now. Sister Next Door (thats not actually what her name means) told me this morning that all 4 of them are moving out of that house into the main convent on the other side of town. I was sad, but also it seemed such a statement of victory. That era of transition, turmoil, and trying to break through really is complete. I keep knowing that and seeing it, but something about the announcement of the nuns moving out sealed it. We needed them and their prayer warfare close by for these years. I am so thankful for the gift God gave us in their presence. The relationship isnt over either so thats also nice! :) NOTE: I have the same reaction to nuns as I do to snow - thrill and a definite assurance that God is actively sending blessing and protection when they are around.
