The work motor-equipped units, (cars 2401-2424, which have the reflective candy-stripped panels) will be retained for work duty for the foreseeable future and rumor has it they might be painted in a full body yellow scheme and renumber as S-series work cars (which occurred with work motor 4000 & 6000-series railcars). Now, if according to schedule, the 2400-series will not be checked for inspection as of this Wednesday (October 1st, 2014), officially signally 38 Years of continuous revenue service. But, given either way, the 2400-series will retire in 2014.
