31/07/2013 : Insurgents kidnap 2 youths from Dhalai district Insurgents kidnapped two youthsfrom border adjacent villages of Dhalai district. The incident occurred late night on Monday at Harimani Village Committee underChowmanu police station of Dhalai district. Police said that theincident was carried out by armed cadres of the banned NLFT (B) outfit. Local sources said that Khushjoy Tripura (15), Usharam Tripura (11), Nashajoy Tripura (22), Dorimohan Tripura (15) and Dhirenjoy Tripura (21) went to a nearby waterbody in Natinmanucherra, a hilly stream close by, to catch fishes. The group went very close to the Indo-Bangla international borderalong the stream when they were gheraoed by a team of around 7 militants, all heavily armed. Four of the villagers couldgive a slip to the ultras. They said later today that four of the insurgents were sporting Assam Rifles uniform. The insurgents have demanded ransom of Rs. 2,300 from each family of Harimani ADC Village for release of the kidnapped. A huge contingent of police has reached the area today itself and started massive search operation for the kidnapped. According to latest reports on Tuesday night, search is still on though none could be recovered.
