#31: Standing Outside the Fire Bub’s education was not going - TopicsExpress

#31: Standing Outside the Fire Bub’s education was not going well through out his early years. After years of advocating for a fair education for him, we decided Bub’s safety was in danger and pulled him out of public school at the end of 3rd grade. After many months of trying to figure out what to do, there didn’t seem to be any other option but to homeschool him. Because I couldn’t face enrolling Mooser in the same school and was in fact traumatized myself from one horrible school situation after another, we decided to homeschool Moose too. We began our journey by unschooling, which was one of the most beneficial things I have ever done. We started from scratch, discovering ourselves and each other. We learned what our natural routines were, what we gravitated towards, what we wanted. It wasn’t perfect, and yes there were quite a lot of crises thrown in there. BUT this time allowed us to grow together as a family, work through issues, make plans, adapt. It didn’t matter that Greg didn’t get home from work until 9PM or that he worked every weekend. Our schedule was flexible. Our lives were mostly ours. I no longer worked part time and I also dropped much of my freelance work so that I could advocate about specific disability issues. The boys and I traveled, we explored, we experimented, we learned. If anything, it was a break from what had become our forced reality. While there were times I thought I was going to lose my mind, those few years will always be some of the most influential and instrumental in my life. #garthbrooks #truelove Watch the video if youve never seen it: dailymotion/video/x17ogs8_garth-brooks-standing-outside-the-fire_music
