31st October commemorates the Birth Anniversary of India’s ‘Iron Man’ – SardarVallabhbhai Patel and the Death Anniversary of Smt. Indira Gandhi popularly known as ‘Iron Lady.’ The two leaders define the leadership of the Indian National Congress, secular to core, decisive and always concerned about the welfare of the poorest Indians. These two leaders define the Congress ideology of service to the nation and as Congress supporters, it is our responsibility to fight this battle in the digital media. Sardar Patel – a statesman, the leader ofIndian National Congressand his role is unparalleled in creating a united India. “The iron lady of India, Durgas incarnation who created Bangladesh and defied the US naval power and challenged its might” ,this is how former PM AtalBihari Vajpayee described Smt. Indira Gandhi. It is only the Indian National Congress which represents nationalist, strong and determined leaders. Sardar Vallabh Patel created a United India by integrating 562 princely states into the Indian Union. Under the dynamic leadership of Smt. Indira Gandhi, India won a decisive victory against Pakistan and liberated Bangladesh. Both the leaders are unquestionably the Iron Leaders of India. We can and must face this tragic ordeal with fortitude, courage and wisdom. We should remain calm and exercise the maximum restraint. We should not let our emotions get the better of us, because passion would cloud judgment. Nothing would hurt the soul of our beloved Indira Gandhi more than the occurrence of violence in any part of the country. It is of prime importance at this moment that every step we take is in the correct direction. Indira Gandhi is no more, but her soul lives. India lives. India is immortal. The spirit of India is immortal. I know that the nation will recognize its responsibilities and that we shall shoulder the burden heroically and with determination. The nation has placed a great responsibility on me by asking me to head the Government. I shall be able to fulfill it only with your support and cooperation.
