39 years ago today this film ignited a passion in me for these creatures that will never dissipate... Sadly it also started a fear frenzy that threatened to eradicate this great predator, vital and beautiful, and those like her from our oceans... So glad they are now a protected species in educated and responsible countries and I hope that EDUCATION returns to our environmental media channels rather than the sensationalism and slaughter ALEC is currently pushing on the media... This film literally changed my life and inspired me to find beauty and elegance in the strangest of creatures and habitats... And the fall out which culminated in random, disastrous shark culling (shockingly this slaughter is presently being conducted by the VILE W. Australian government on any shark measuring over 9ft) and also showed me that humans are by far the most disgusting, blood-thirsty, and dangerous of all species inhabiting the earth... One of the best horror films ever which sadly inspired the true horror of unthinkable slaughter at human hands... We are the only species that is truly a mindless, vicious killer. A world without sharks is not a world I am remotely interested in (or snakes)... BUT I would not be a biologist today had it not been for this film (and yes I rooted for the shark throughout the entire film)...
