3rd DELHI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2014 Website: delhiinternationalfilmfestival In Collaboration with the NDMC and Delhi Tourism Sub : ENTRIES OPEN FOR 3rd DELHI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL -2014’ DEAR FRIENDS We take great pleasure in informing you about our initiative to u organize an International Film Festival in New Delhi from 20th Dec to 27th December, 2014 namely Delhi International Film Festival (DIFF -2014). DIFF 2014 has been planned as a seven Day event and is an initiative by “The Social Circle, A Society for Cause and - A step toward inclusiveness” to showcase the best of Cinema, Art and Literature from across the globe. Started in the year 2012, the advisory board for this festival is headed by “ Dada Saheb Phalke” awardee Adoor Gopal Krishnan. Working closely with him are some of the greats of Indian Cinema namely National award winning director Tigmanshu Dhulia, Anurag Kashyap, Anooj Kapoor, Mohan Agashe, Manoj Bajpai, Mandira Bedi, Shriram Raghwan, Jimmi Shergil, N. Chandra,Sandeep Marwah, Shailesh Loadha, Yashpal Sharma, Arvind Gaur and Satish Anand from Pakistan. The festival has been a regular event in the calendar of Delhi Govt and NDMC with the 1st and 2nd Editions being held in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Siri Fort Auditorium and NDMC Convention Centre have been the standard and regular venues of the event for the past two years. Each of the two editions showcased 170 films from around the globe with 100 paintings and sculptures from India. The two editions also had a literature section with 100 NRI poets displaying their work at the venue. The 2nd edition of the festival saw the addition of Fashion, Singing, Band events and Sufi night by Nizami Brothers to it thus making Delhi International Film Festival the only festival in the world with so many sections and live events every evening during the seven days of the festival. Awards will also be given in various competitive categories along with the Life Time Achievement Award’ and a special award Called ‘Minare Dilli’ which will be conferred to an individual for his /her valuable contribution to cinema, theatre and for her work in art & culture. In the first edition, the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ was given to Ms Sharmila Tagore and the ‘Minare Dilli’ was given to Veteran Actress Zohara Sahgal. In the 2nd edition of the festival Mr. Shatrughan Sinha was conferred with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ and the chairman of DLF, Mr. K.P. Singh received the ‘Minare Dilli Award’. The first Edition of the festival had extensive media coverage and was graced by many eminent personalities, part of the festival was Delhi CM Ms Sheila Dixit , Sharmila Tagore, Zohra Sehgal, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shiney Ahuja also part of the festival was famous writer Tasleema Nasreen, Hon’ble Minister Sh. Harish Rawat ji, Sh. Vijay Nanda Bahuguna, Sab Tv Marketing head Sh. Anooj Kapoor Sh.Muzzafar Ali, Shuaib Ilyasi, and Delhi Tourism MD Sh. GG Saxena. The second edition had an even larger coverage and was graced many more personalities from the field of politics, film and fashion. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr. Rajiv Shukla inaugurated the 2nd edition in the presence of Princess Of Thailand DR. MOM LUANG RAJADARASRI JAYANKURAAl also present at the moment was the legendary actor Mohan Agaashe, dir Kabir Sai, actor Gagan mallick, Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Minister of Cultural Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Thierry Bleu, acting coach, France, Dan Wolman, ambassador of Srilanka, Ambassador of Greece etc. To promote Cinema, Art and culture, we have associated with French and Israeli Embassies in New Delhi along with HUNERKADAA, well known Visual Arts and Performance Institute and EVEREADY GROUP, leading film Distribution Company from Pakistan. We hope that these events would help in the betterment of cultural and diplomatic relations between the two Nations.
