AIM: To show us that Gods power is available even in our times of weakness or inadequacy. INTRODUCTION: When you face situations that expose how ill-equipped you are or that expose your weakness, what has been your reaction ? Do you feel embarrassed, discouraged or do you hide and complain ? Have you ever considered looking to God for wisdom and strength in such a situation ? STUDY GUIDE 1. Identify the nature of trials that Gideon faced in the following passages, Judges 6:12-15;25-27;7:1-7. 2. What were the inadequacies of these person persons and how did they fare in their situations: Jer. 1:4-10; Exo. 3:10-13;4:10-14; 1Sam. 9:21 ? 3. (A) Why do you think God aasked Gideon to reduce the number of his soldiers when he was going to face an army larger than his ? See Judges 7:2,3 (B) What does this teach us about the battles of life as leaders ? 4. What can we learn from Gideons experience that can help us face situations in which we know we are ill equipped or weak to handle ? See also 2Cor. 12:9,10; Phil. 4:13. CONCLUSION: When we face ugly situations let us know that His mighty power is available to help us even in our weaknesses, as long as we are willing to obey Him. Note that our trails aare not meant to overwhelm or discourage us. Rather such serve to remind us that we are mortals who need to draw closer to God-the source of all power, wisdom and strength. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: His strength is made perfect in our weakness. MEMORY VERSE: 2COR. 12:9
