4/16 FRESH Yesterday wasnt too bad first thing in the morning but it went down hill from there. So it ended up pretty much a wash. People I am talking too are not happy with the trout fishing because they are not getting full stringers everyday. The norm right now is 2 to 4 trout. Also everybody is saying it is a bait bite and they will not hit Powerbait or spinners, but a few have said they are working as well but just not as good. Looking like the next couple of days are looking good but a bit colder and the weekend is still kinda up in the air as far as weather goes. Now for the Delaware River, the herring and shad are in Trenton now in fairly good numbers. As for stripers there are more being caught but as far as i know everything has been shorts so far. Even if you do catch a keeper from the river right now you can not keep it. The season is closed until June 1 from the Calhoun Street Bridge to the Salem River and all tributaries along that stretch. Also dont forget that non-offset circle hooks while fishing with any natural bait during the months of April and May downstream of the Calhoun Street Bridge to the Commodore Barry Bridge. This restriction shall apply only to hooks of size 2 and larger and shall not apply to hooks of smaller sizes. If you are fishing above the Calhoun Street Bridge, then you can keep two stripers 28 inches or bigger from March 1 to Dec. 31.
