4:55pm SEQLD BOM Detailed Warning and Radar image. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND for DAMAGING WIND and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in the SCENIC RIM and parts of the GOLD COAST CITY, LOCKYER VALLEY, LOGAN CITY, GYMPIE, IPSWICH CITY, SOUTHERN DOWNS, SUNSHINE COAST, SOMERSET, SOUTH BURNETT and TOOWOOMBA Council Areas. Issued at 4:47 pm Tuesday, 29 October 2013. The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:50 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near the area south of Kingaroy, near Yarraman and also nearMaroon Dam. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east-northeast. They are forecast to affect Boonah, Nanango and Kingaroy by 5:20 pm and Beaudesert and the area north of Kilcoy by 5:50 pm. Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely. Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 5:45 pm. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
