4 April 2014 My wife, Sherry, asked a question, “What kind eyesight do you have?” The question was asked of a group that we were teaching. She was speaking from Second Kings six where Elisha, the prophet of God, was surrounded by the army of the Syrians. The young man who was his servant went out early in the morning, saw the army of the Syrians, and said Elisha, “Alas, my master, What shall we do?” Elisha, in turn, said to him, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more that those who are with them.” He then prayed, saying, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” The Lord did exactly what Elisha prayed and the young man saw that “…the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” As I heard my wife teach on this passage, I began to think about our “eyesight.” How do we see? Are we like the young servant of Elisha and see the negative and the lack of possibilities? Or do we see the circumstances through “EYES OF FAITH?” God spoke a positive word to the church at Corinth in second Corinthians five, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” It is so easy for us to see the things going on around us and forget what God wants us to see. Why? We live in a real world with real problems, so the circumstances speak loudly and demand our attention. Yes, we do live in the real world, but we also live in the Kingdom of God. Child of God, look past what you see with the natural eye and see what God has said. Look past the sickness and see the healing. Look past the financial difficulty and see the blessing. Look past the bondage and see the liberty. When you look with the “EYE OF FAITH,” you are seeing, not only the possibilities, you are seeing the promises. “Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought to Him a blind man and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” Then He put His hand on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.”
