4 WAYS TO REFINE YOUR TALENTS FOR EXCELLENCE. One of the major ways to position your talent for profit making is to get it thoroughly refined. To refine a talent means to develop and improve it so it becomes distinctive. Talents to a large extent can be compared to gold and crude oil. These resources have little value in their raw state. For gold to be appreciated, it has to go through a process of refining so as to expose its beauty, value and purity. As valuable as crude oil is, it too must be refined from a crude form before it could become useful and valuable. Just as it is with gold and crude oil, so also it is with talent. It must be refined for its inherent value to be exposed. This is what make its rewarding. What follows are four ways by which you can refine your talents for excellence. 1. EDUCATION. This has to do with the acquisition of relevant and applicable knowledge. Knowledge gives your talent a developmental and productive edge. How much knowledge you have about the nature, dynamics and functioning of your talent determines how far you will go with it. Only resourceful and ardent learners turn out to become high-flyers. Refining your talents for excellence requires that you make the acquisition of knowledge a topmost priority. This can be achieved either through the conventional educational process, personal study or through apprenticeship. Gain insights about your talents. Read everything you can get your hands on. Attend seminars, trainings, workshops and conerences that would increase your knowledge base. Build your personal library on areas that would catalyze the rate of development, enhance the speed of productivity and increase the competence level of your talents. Never fall for the belief that you already know all there is to learn. Be a continuous learner and always remember that you will rise only to the degree to which you are able to conquer ignorance in the area of your pursuit. The day you stop learning, growing and improving is the day youll start dwindling, fading and dying. 2. EXERCISE. Talents grow when they are exercised. To exercise a talent means to put it into proper and effective use. Whenever a natural ability or tendency is consistently and habitually exercised, it will grow and multiply regardless of how small it may be at the beginning but if you fail to use such ability, even though you were born with it, you will eventually loose the capacity to use that particular talent or ability with the passage of time. The talent you do not use will begin to depreciate and loose its value and effectiveness. Whatever talent you have, exercise it and overtime, you will begin to flow with it without stress and become great at it. 3. EXPERIENCE. Leveraging on and tapping into the experience of others can also help in refining your talents. When you learn from the experiences of other talented people who a making a headway with their talents, you will glean valuable lessons that would spur your talents unto greater heights. Seek out others who can help you, coach you, mentor you and serve a role models from which you can learn. Acquire counsels and advice from those who have tread or are still treading the same path as yours. If you must stand tall with your talents, see further, grow bigger and rise faster than your contemporaries, then you must find the shoulders of giants to stand on and the wings of experienced fellows to ride on. 4. EXPOSURE. Your rate of exposure to the right ideas, concept, people and environment will determine your rate of explosion with your talents. Dont be locked up in a box. Get out of your comfort zone and see how things are done by the experts and leaders in the area of your talent. With these methods, you can get your talent thoroughly refined. Enjoy the rest of your day.
