Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office A 4-year-old boy accidentally drowned during a birthday party Saturday at a Rutherford County home, sheriff’s officers said. The victim, 4, of Smyrna, died at St. Thomas Hospital, reported Deputy Matt Kunce. Detective Lt. Todd Sparks said the child apparently slipped outside during the party, got around the pool’s decking and gate and entered the water during the party at a home at Pinnacle Hills Drive. Another child discovered the child in the water. “He had been in there probably several minutes,” Lt. Sparks said. Nurse practitioner Elizabeth Synthavong immediately started cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the child. “It was just a horrible accident,” Lt. Sparks said.
