4 years ago I hired the best right-hand man (a big kid, actually) that a guy could wish for. When I asked Sean Thomas Johnson during the interview where he was from and his answer was Iowa (in perfect Sioux, I might add) he got the job and became a great partner. He learned quickly, had a Midwestern work ethic and charmed every client. We found each other interesting and I looked forward every morning to our chats even as he played conservative to my liberal. When I grew my hair long this ex-Navy Chief Petty Officer grew his long, too. When Id endured enough bad hair days to shear mine he kept his mane growing. He made my life easier and more entertaining and I hope he felt that I did the same for him. This morning after not hearing from him for 24 hours I went to his abode and found that he had nonsensically died peacefully in his sleep. Its not my style to question the frailty of life but I am left with questions non-the-less. He was 41 years old and full of life and love.....one of the happiest people I knew. A big kid, actually. My heart goes out to those that loved him more than I ever could. His large family and fiance Mia are in a dry well that tears can never fill but we will all try to float the bucket he left at the bottom. My head was hearing Samuel Barbers Adagio for Strings all day. Its considered the saddest song ever written and it lives up to its reputation, at least today. Sean would have considered it lame, so this is for the rest of us that knew him. youtube/watch?v=BGMwNe9WWmE
