40 DAYS & 40 NIGHTS OF PRAYERS AND FASTING: - DAY 1 - Fasting hours: Midnight to 17.00 Brethren welcome to our fast. Prayer and fasting is not about taking out energy on the enemy. That would be energy wasted. It’s about investing our energy in declaring and speaking words of blessings into our life and it is a personal time to draw closer to God to listen to what he wants to use us for. Its a time to be renewed inside, for the kingdom of God is inside of you, a time to be purified on the inside, a time to overcome fears that are not from God, a time to be cleansed from any uncleanness. All that happening through the words of our prayers and the sacrifice of not eating backing up those prayers in a very powerful way. As Jesus prayed and fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, it was his personal time to draw closer to God, be renewed, purified, cleaned, become filled with the Holy Spirit and become strong and powerful to be able to now go and accomplish the mission/purpose God had prepared for him. And if Jesus fasted first before taking on his mission then this shows us the importance of prayer and fasting. Its important we have time to fast throughout the year. And when Jesus was led up by Gods spirit to be tempted by the devil (Luke 4:2), the time waster, he did not take out a sword to start fighting him because of the wisdom he had gained from God during the fast, he just took the devil out with 3 replies, 3 sentences. God is telling us this morning that this is our time to stop living under the control of fears he has not given us but the enemy has put in our minds. As God says, so shall it be in Jesus mighty name, amen. Be blessed today as we start these powerful prayers.
