Reconciliation indicates that Christ’s death removed God’s enmity against man. We are reconciled by God the Father because of the removal of the sin barrier between man and God by the cross. This work of Christ guarantees our eternal access to God. This spanning of the great gap between man and God by the person and work of Christ on the cross provides the basis of our eternal relationship with God. For if, when we were Gods enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! (Romans 5:10) All this is from God, who reconciled (means in the Greek to effect a change, to exchange, to reconcile; here the preposition in the compound is perfective and means “to effect a thorough change back.”) us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting mens sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
