40 years ago, I started drumming and at that time, Mill Creek - TopicsExpress

40 years ago, I started drumming and at that time, Mill Creek School Corp. got their instruments from Family Music owned and run by Bob Carter aka Sammy Terry. He told me he already had 10 drummers or so and I would have to choose a different instrument. That lasted a semester and I still went to drums. I wonder if ANY of those that played then play now?? Throughout the years music has been a relationship maker or breaker. It ended hundreds of relationships and a marriage but has opened many doors I never expected to have. Music is my life and my daughters are musicians and Im not surprised. Cindy is cool with the drumming and piano playing as long as I give her some of my time. I have made some wonderful friends and work with a few. Scott Rainey, I am honored to call you friend and you taught me how to get a great drum sound as well as mix for a better overall sound. I hope to finish the record we started in 2005 next year. Daren David Short, 18 years weve known each other. I cant say how much the friendship has been a learning experience and admiration for you guys staying true to your music!! I met Scott through you guys and I thank you for all youve done for me. A Paul Johnson, two and a half years drumming for you has been a headache, a joy, a frustration, and I wouldnt change a thing. I love playing your work because I get to be ME instead of a simple drummer. To play for Paul, a drummer MUST be able to handle odd times, multiple time signatures, multiple styles ie, rock, jazz, reggae, funk, blues, swing, ragtime, and play shuffles. This is my bag baby!! I am honored to entertain along side and I thank you for the challenges and the training to grow as a better musician. Victor Manuel Cruz, Gus Cruz, George Cruz, 30 years ago we were in a band together and it was a family. I felt part of your family and I was. We played four years and played in front of 25,000 people at Monument Circle this coming August 25th, 1984. You guys started me following the yellow brick road and still heading for Oz. I have some fantastic players in whom I have worked with or currently working with. Thank you with all my heart. Quirky Tom Theurer, Grant Niebergall, Anthony Liberto, Jeff Mladic, Andy Burke, Asa Lane, Robert Mike Wagner, Mike Schleicher, Ray Glucksman, and Ray Hale, you guys are the drum buddies I wish were closer. Email or phone works but hope to visit soon. Thank you EVERYBODY!!
