45 years ago today, Apollo 11 slipped the surly bounds of Earth & embarked on a voyage that would culminate in Americas, & mankinds greatest scientific discovery. I was fortunate enough to have seen Neil Armstrong take that 1st step on the Moon, & speak those immortal words; One giant step for man, one giant leap for mankind. I was just a kid. But I was old enough to appreciate the gravity (no pun intended) of what I was watching, both scientifically, & historically. And I have been intrigued by space flight ever since.
