46th Anniversary of Sittwe rice killing day was held in Shwe Pyi Tha new town, Yangon Date: 13rd August, 2013 Yangon: Around 10 AM, 46th anniversary of unforgettable 13 August Day was held at Kan Nyi Naung Buddhist temple in Shwe Pyi Tha new town, Yangon, Myanmar. At first Swann (noble food) was offered to Buddhist monks by Arakanese in-exile peoples, led by Arakan Ray Organization and Organizing Committee for NCA and other individuals including woman and children, Yangon. And then among the attendents, memorial speech given ceremonial were held 1 PM to till 4 PM. During the discussion and speech given time, participants have discussed deeply for the past, present and future of Arakan fate, even though they are suffering with grif, sorrow inside their internal mind. And one of attendent has carried out a massage from U Zaw Aye Maung (Arakanese/ Rakhaing affair minister of ruling government body in Myanmar) and shared that even though he ( U Zaw Aye Maung) absent for busy, leave for his depression and sadness for this event “13 August Day”. According to attendants, around 40 Arakanese (Rakhaing) people) have participated in this Arakanese heartbreaking Day. In 1967, Arakanese peoples were suffering like hunger for Arakan costal region was hit by a huge cyclone. In the result of that major farmlands, paddy field, crops were destroyed in Arakan. Arakan-land was called Dhinyawadi, that meant food flourish land (the land of paddy tents). They said, Arakanese said that, Arakanese have never been hunger/ scarcity, even though drought hit like continue for three years. Like that Arakan (Rakhaing Pray, Arakan land) have available/ flourish food for the people of Arakan citizens. But like mentioned in above, Arakanese peoples have been suffering in hunger/ scarcity but food/ rice/ paddy were already loaded in godowns and stores of Burmese Government in Sittwe. Burmese Government ( in those day Burmese Socialist Programme Party has ruled) was demanded by Arakanese peoples for the so-hardly suffered in hunger and scarcity, to provide/ sell them for enough rice for their survival. But authority has refused as an unbelieveable or inhuman being act. So, at last, Arakanese peoples had come out to streets then demanded to provide/ sell rice for their survival, with following slogans; ‘Arakanese mean “no boiled rice eating people” Arakanese mean “no broken rice eating people”,but authority has ignored continuously. In that way, when reach in 13 August, 1967, Arakanese peoples have come out as like a pour to the streets like in every sights and have had demand for their survival. But bullets were provided instead of rice/ food by Burmese authority. In that way for the fired of BSPP army, 300 over Arakanese citizens were die on the spot and other hundred over were buried with deaths while crying like “Help me! “ Help me!! “I am alive” “I am alive”, according to attendants, older one, in that ceremony. That’s why, when that day repeat, they, Arakanese, are fell like a new happen one and calling this day as a “unforgettable 13 August Day” or “Rice Killing Day” The GMA News thegmanews.blogspot
