Both the BCP Scientific Advisory Committee and Citizens Advisory Committee voted to DENY the building of a secondary access road to VHS/FPMS along the outer rim of the BCP. The #4PointsTrafficCommittee needs your help! The next meeting is this Wednesday, September 18, at 10:00AM, Travis Co. Commissioners Court, 700 Lavaca. In the meantime, email your elected officials to let them know that you want this road built. There is only one access point to both schools on the heavily congested and dangerous FM 2222 (at McNeil Dr.). This single access point poses a number of safety concerns for the community and for students and faculty, including: Difficult access for emergency vehicles and personnel who might need to access the campuses in an emergency situation. Dangerous driving conditions during peak traffic hours on FM 2222. Located downwind of the Balcones Canyonland Preserve, the schools are subject to a substantial risk of wildfire from the preserve land. Because of single point access, evacuation of one or both of these schools and/or the adjacent sports stadium would be difficult and take a dangerously long time.
