4th Annual Sacred Circle of Elders Honoring Event Attn: Sacred Elders and their Family and Friends Please help share the following letter and information. Dear Elder, The members of the Steering Team of the Frederick Douglass School Black Educators’ Memorial Project has established a project for elders called The Sacred Elders Project. It includes four (4) programs: The Annual Elders Honoring Event, the Photo Gallery of Elders, Telling Our Stories: An Elder’s View, and the Friends of Sacred Elders Membership. The goal of the Sacred Circle of Elders is to honor all elders of our community who are 70+ years of age and who may be either of African American/ Bahamian or African American/Cuban descent. In a previous year, you may have been honored at the Annual Elders Luncheon Event and/or inducted into the Sacred Circle of Elders. On Saturday, December 27, at 2 p.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton – Grand Key Resort, we will honor again all elders and induct new members who reached 70 years of age since December 31, 2013, and any elder who is over 70 who was unable to be present at the event in past years. You may invite one guest to attend our 4th Annual Sacred Circle of Elders Honoring Ceremony. Please call either Carla Tynes (305) 393-4296 or Paulette Rivas (305) 896-4697 no later than Monday, December 22nd to let them know the name of your guest. We are looking forward to your presence and to recognizing you again as one of the members of the Sacred Circle of Elders of our beloved Key West community. Please accept our apology for such a short notice. Respectfully, Dr. Virginia Burgohy Irving Project Facilitator
