5 Good Points Rappers Must Pick From Slap D, Explained Further By ZHHJ. Slap D is advising rappers about making good and unique music. Pay attention and learn from the multi awarding wining veteran rapper with me expanding his wise words. 1.“When you depend on a tough beat for a banger, all you do is make the producer a star”. If you are not good at spitting and you think rapping on a hot beat will make you famous, forget because what you are doing is making the producer popular than you. This is why producers now can have a large number of followers because most rappers get killed by the beats they spit on thereby marketing the producer, lol. 2.“Every album has to have a different concept and theme. You will survive the game like that”. How can you release albums talking about Swag only. Always boasting about even things you dont have, mukatoba Ilini mu bantu mukasebana. Make sure your album has different content form the previous ones you have recorded. Sit down, gather thoughts before you start recording your next album. 3.“Same music, different topic will keep you sounding fresh”. They say do not change the winning team. Experimenting is a risky move, things can go well but worse more make you lose your reputation. Some mainstream rappers bounce on traditional beats and in Cyphers they sound like misfits from another genre.I also hear a lot of good rappers missing Dunka beats. They are also a lot of Real Hip-Hop artist that fail to impress on mainstream pop beats. They sound good on traditional beats but when they go pop, damn you be forced to press stop. 4.“Dont depend on a tough beat or a funky hook coz when they aint trending no more youll be dry”. There are very few rappers from vernacular section who are in the spotlight with good lyrics like Slap D.You may have heard Afrikka Bambatta tuning American rappers about this issue of depending on hot beats to tuck in their weak flows. Lyrics are more important than the beat. Ice Cube spoke of Eminems Popish produced album last year saying lyrics still rule Hip-Hop and not the beat. This is why music from the 90s has big audience than the music from the mid 2000s. Beats evolve as more instruments are being made. We never had the Trap Instruments, one day these will evaporate but good lyrics still remain on focus. Unlyrical rappers are not only destroying themselves but Hip-Hop too. Please do what you have to do to show us that you deserve to be in Zambian Hip-Hop by spitting your nanikane…. 5.“Nig*az who depend on any recent incident for content in a song. Gahaha #dry. When Mailoni brothers got killed everybody wanted to talk about it. Everyone wants to talk about Chibolya now. Not a subliminal to anyone but we have heard a lot of lines almost the same been recycled or twisted. Yes Hip-Hop also means to be up to date with the current cultural trends but when start rapping something that has been rapped before, you are showing off the lazy side of your art making us the listeners with no option but to delete your music. Find something that has never been rapped before. -K.O Starring
