5 STAR REVIEW ON AMAZON FOR THE RELUCTANT DEAD!! Don’t be reluctant to read this great book ! By A Onyali The premise for the book grabbed me instantly. As an Igbo man and a massive horror fan, the idea of a set of ghost stories set in Biafra was something that intrigued me greatly. Igbo culture, particularly in the late 19th century, was very spiritual with supernatural elements. This is touched on slightly in books from the likes of Chinua Achebe etc. Though Im aware of some the customs and superstitions I am not well versed in them so my expectations upon reading the book was to to be spooked and educated in almost equal measure Having read the book I am pleased to say it lived up to expectations. The book is made up of 6 short stories. It is a very breezy reads, perfect length at just over 250 pages. I thoroughly enjoyed all 6 stories, something that isn’t always the case when reading a short story compilation. My favourite of these is Hazida. Without giving away the details, the phrase, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned has never been more apt This is the first book I have read of this author and I’ll look forward to her other works. Igbo literature has a new star
