5 years ago, I memorised the very first Surah - Al-Fatehah. It took me about one week to memorise it. With my superb tajweed + makhrij. Thats when I started to learn how to perform the Solat. With this being said, I wasnt a Muslim yet, (officially). I started to establish my prayers. It was then, 2-3 weeks before my enlistment for my National Service. I remembered that we were in the Auditorium Hall, and after the briefing, we were dispersed. Muslims were to off to one side for their Friday Prayers (since its Friday), while the rest bid their farewell to their parents. I was in a dilemma. I do not know where to go. I havent become a Muslim officially. As registered in the system, I was still a Buddhist. The first meal that I was supposed to be given, is supposed to be non-Halal. But then I beg to have a differ. Have you heard about Solat Marathon? Combining all the Solat (from Subuh to Ishaa and pray them all at one go before nights off?) My muslim bunkmates didnt really establish their prayers. My Sir (in-charged of my section) forbade me from Solat due to not resting when its Nights Off. Cried in the middle of the night because of this when the room was dark. Well, along the way I met with a brother at another bunk who established prayers. Right now hes still in my Friend list :) On the 3rd week of my enlistment, I became a Muslim, officially. The following week, was Ramadan. And there I go, started fasting when Im still a new freshie. . . . What a nice time to reflect and remember my past during these final few minutes of Ramadan. Sorry, not gonna share my whole story though. Bye my 6th Ramadan~ Eid Mubarak~!
