50 Cents departure from Interscope Records may have ended on a bad note. Although Dr. Dre and Eminem are still on good terms with the Queens native, label head Jimmy Iovine doesnt feel the same way. Iovine admitted that he no longer likes 50, the MC shared in an interview with Power 99 radio stations Cosmic Kev. The last communication I had with Jimmy, we was actually talking and Jimmy tells me he doesn’t like me, Fif said.For whatever reasons — the miscommunications or his interpretation of why Im actually doing things that Im doing [is why he doesnt like me]. Fif thought it best that he leave the label he called home for over a decade due to their handling of his music. After the label delayed his fifth album more than once, he officially jumped ship in February. He recalled being so done with the situation that regardless of Iovines alleged misperception, he wanted his walking papers. Just get me off the actual label before the s--- goes bad, because I’m not getting the actual response I want out of the material that I’m releasing with them, and it’s to the point that I’m not even trying to put the right thing out, 50 explained. Im just sitting here, Put that one. Get that one. You can’t get a song with Em and Adam Levine? What can you get? They didnt get anything on Kendrick [Lamar] until after the record [We Up] sold. Going independent has so far been the best route for the 38-year-old, he said. After announcing the Interscope break up, Fif got busy dropping new material including the Dre-produced track Smoke, and hes satisfied with the fan response. Im better by myself, he declared. Its not speculation, its factual. However, if Iovine didnt express disdain towards Fif, they wouldve remained friends in spite of the end of their business relationship. The tension reportedly arose after Fif launched SMS Audio as a potential competitor to the Beats by Dre juggernaut. I admire Jimmy, I looked up to him, any success that Ive had has been with him, the G-Unit mogul confessed. Im prejudice, I dont like people who dont like me. Its not like I could say I dont like you too… cause I didnt [feel that way]. Now, Ill take the same position. Im not the person to sit there and say I really like you when you dont [like me]. His focus is still on the music, though.
