50 girls in class XIth, from different government schools, in areas surrounding New Delhi, cleared the rigorous process of NAT of Udayan Shalini Fellowship Programme (USF), and became eligible for the prestigious fellowships, and joined the existing band of over 3500 Udayan Shalini Fellows in 9 cities of India. On 18th October 2014, in the 13th induction ceremony, at Mahavir Senior Secondary School, New Delhi, they were inducted and presented with the first scholarship amount. On the occasion, were present Chief Guest, Dr Satyanarayan Jatia (Member Rajya Sabha & Former Union Minister, Government of India); Dr Kiran Modi, Managing Trustee, Udayan Care; Dr Kavita A Sharma, Director, India International Centre; Mr. S.L Jain, Convener, Delhi Chapter & Principal of the School; Subhash Oswal (Industrialist, Social worker) and all the other Core committee members and mentors. Mr S.L Jain, welcomed all the guests on behalf of the school, and reiterated the school’s commitment to support this worthy cause. The Oath taken by the fellows, and administered by the Chief Guest, was truly inspiring and so were the words of wisdom from all the speakers. Two of the alumni of the programme: Sonal and Anita inspired the fellows further by talking of their journeys of higher education, with the help and guidance of USF mentors. Moreover, certificates of completion were distributed to all the alumni of 8th batch of USF, who had completed their 5 years of scholarship programme in the Udayan Shalini Fellowship in Delhi, this year.
