50 years ago today, Jim and I were in Las Vegas to see Sammy Davis Jr. perform. We heard Walter Cronkite announce on the radio that The president of the United States has been killed. Every show in Las Vegas was cancelled and Sammy Davis being part of the rat pack had to be in instant mourning as was the rest of the nation. I wrote this poem entitled: This man John Kennedy. Many people loved This man....Others would not say Some said they hated him...in words without delay Yet this man was our leader...he belonged to you and me True he could not please us all....but no man can, you see This man was a mortal man...he had to die one day But why he died the way he did....is not for us to say I know when Russia sent her ships, to test our strength and worth No one would have traded him for any man on earth Father, Son, and Holy Ghost...this man believed in Trinity Perhaps he now is with Gods Host...This man...This man ...John Kennedy
